Taking Action on Being
Sustainable
Is becoming more sustainable good
for the planet and the bottom line? Tuesday, the first day of
the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, will be devoted to
defining and implementing sustainable practices for both
environmental and "bottom line" improvements.
The morning general session panel
will discuss why being sustainable matters overall. Speakers
will look at the correlation between sustainability and
financial performance to determine how eco-friendly and
socially responsible practices can help the bottom line.
Attendees will also hear some of the most current research
about consumers understanding of sustainability and how
it affects purchasing decisions related to their business and
branding
strategies.
The afternoon breakout sessions will focus on tangible
examples of integrated business decisions that balance
environmental performance and real costs, and implications to
profitability. Some of the topics covered will include
retrofitting wineries to be more sustainable, sustainable
production practices and how to market sustainable farming
practices.
Although these sessions are still being fully
developed, look for more program information on the Unified Symposium
Web site in the near future.
