2009 Unified Wine & Grape Symposium
Expands to Fourth Day

The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium will enhance the traditional three-day program in 2009 with a symposium on the fourth day.  Opening on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, the program will extend through January 30, with the addition of a separate, full-day Aroma Symposium on Friday.

Trades Show Floor 08

The four-day program is comprised of sessions and a symposium paired with the Western Hemisphere's largest wine industry trade show of its kind, with over 550 vendors displaying their products and services. The trade show will take place Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 and 29.

More information will be posted on the Web site as it develops. Registration and housing opens on October 20, 2008.

Taking Action on Being Sustainable

Is becoming more sustainable good for the planet and the bottom line? Tuesday, the first day of the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, will be devoted to defining and implementing sustainable practices for both environmental and "bottom line" improvements.

The morning general session panel will discuss why being sustainable matters overall. Speakers will look at the correlation between sustainability and financial performance to determine how eco-friendly and socially responsible practices can help the bottom line.  Attendees will also hear some of the most current research about consumers understanding of sustainability and how it affects purchasing decisions related to their business and branding strategies.

The afternoon breakout sessions will focus on tangible examples of integrated business decisions that balance environmental performance and real costs, and implications to profitability. Some of the topics covered will include retrofitting wineries to be more sustainable, sustainable production practices and how to market sustainable farming practices.

Although these sessions are still being fully developed, look for more program information on the Unified Symposium Web site in the near future.

Se Habla Espaņol

The hugely successful Spanish sessions will be back again in 2009. As in 2008, sessions will again offer certificates of attendance to those who attend an entire tract. Sessions will cover aspects of winemaking, vineyard management and leadership development. Visit the Unified Symposium Web site for more details as they develop.
