The 2021 Unified Wine and Grape Symposium covered the importance
of diversity and inclusion during its Thursday general session
titled Strength in Diversity: Achieving Meaningful Change for
Business Success in the Wine Industry and a panel session on
gender leadership titled Herstory.
Due to the strong interest and positive feedback, the Unified
Wine & Grape Symposium has decided to make the recordings for
those two sessions available to view for free.
“It’s never been more important to elevate the discussions of
equity, diversity and inclusion issues,” said Dan Howard,
executive director of the American Society for Enology and
Viticulture and a member of the Managing Committee. “For
that reason, the Program Committee dedicated two panel sessions
to a very deliberate, thoughtful and honest discussion of these
topics. And, because we believe the content of those sessions is
of essential value to the entire industry, we made the decision
to share this information with the entire wine and grape industry

in-depth panel discussions that addressed the state of the
industry and other topics such as wildfire smoke issues, changing
the way wines are sold and strategies for leadership succession.
