GENERAL SAFETY PROTOCOLS

What safety measures are in place to protect the guests and staff from COVID-19?

The Unified Wine & Grape Symposium is committed to providing the safest possible environment for our guests and staff. The show will follow the most current COVID-19 governmental health and safety requirements. The Unified’s mask, testing and vaccination protocols ensure a controlled environment that provides a high level of protection from COVID-19.

Here’s how we’re creating the safest possible environment:

  1. Face coverings: Everyone must wear face coverings indoors, following the State of California’s face covering health order. Acceptable masks are surgical, cloth, or (K) N95. Gaiters, bandanas, face shields or masks with an exhalation valve will not be acceptable. Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted for eating or drinking. Masks must be worn between bites and sips.
  2. Health & Safety Screening Center: Everyone must check-in at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center located in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom before entering the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center to register or pick-up their badge. Guests will be asked for proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hrs (48 hrs for PCR). Once proof of vaccination/negative COVID-19 test result is confirmed, guests will receive a wristband for entry into the conference.
  3. Proof of Vaccination/Negative COVID-19 Test Result: Everyone must provide verification of fully vaccinated status or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.
  4. COVID-19 Testing: If providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, the result must be from an antigen test taken no more than one day prior to guests’ arrival at the conference OR PCR test no more than two days (48 hours) prior to arriving at the show (the first day you are attending the conference). Click here to find a testing location near you. COVID-19 testing will also be available at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center. Click here for pricing
  5. Facility HVAC System: The SAFE Credit Union Convention Center HVAC systems will have MERV-13 filters, which is recommended for COVID-19. It is carefully managed to provide the appropriate amount of indoor air circulation and proper outside air per industry standards, meeting Air Quality and OSHA requirements.
  6. Hand Sanitizing and Handwashing Stations: Touch-free, hand sanitizing stations are provided by SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in all approved public space areas and/or common areas.
  7. Facility Cleaning & Disease Prevention: The SAFE Credit Union Convention Center has implemented stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention within our facilities. Washing stations are available in all restrooms throughout the facilities. Each restroom has touchless sink faucets, toilet fixtures, and urinal fixtures that reduce cross-contamination and promote better hygiene. All restrooms will be frequently and thoroughly disinfected during event hours.

Unified has partnered with Epistemix, a computational modeling software company that develops simulations to model the spread of diseases and inform policy, to project the risk of COVID-19 transmission during Unified. The robust program of safety measures that the Unified will have in place means a reduction in transmissibility by 400% compared to other typical activities in Sacramento public spaces. The latest data projects the risk of COVID-19 transmission during the Unified at a rate of less than 2 cases per 10,000/day.

Speakers will follow the State of California face covering health order, which permits persons who are actively performing at indoor live events to remove their masks. Speakers have the option to remove their masks when presenting.

PROOF OF VACCINATION/NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULT

What is considered fully vaccinated?

People are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a multi-dose series or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine. If it has been less than 2 weeks since your shot or you still need to get your second dose, you are not fully protected. Guests who are not fully vaccinated must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

What is the process for showing proof of vaccination /negative COVID-19 test result?

Everyone must provide verification of fully vaccinated status or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

Everyone must check-in at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center located in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom before entering the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center to register or pick up their badge.

  • Photo of your vaccination card on a phone or electronic device
  • Digital vaccination record. All California residents may request a digital vaccination record at MyVaccineRecord.cdph.ca.gov. People visiting from outside of California can use SMART Health Cards.
  • Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider or other contracted employers who follow these vaccination records guidelines and standards

Find all options for proof of vaccination in the California Department of Public Health’s Vaccine Record Guidelines and Standards.

Do I need to have received the booster vaccine to attend Unified?

Booster doses are not required for the Unified but are recommended for optimal protection against COVID-19.

What are acceptable forms of proof of a negative COVID-19 test result?

If you provide test results for entry, the test must have been conducted in the last 1 day for an antigen test or 2 days for a PCR test. Find a testing location in your area. On-site testing is also available for a fee at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center.

Attendees cannot self-attest to verify vaccination status or a negative test result. Guests can either show a printed document from the test provider or laboratory or an electronic test result for the test provider or laboratory displayed on a phone or other device. The information should include the person’s name, type of test performed, the date, and negative test result.

Will testing be provided or available for purchase on-site?

On-site testing is available for a fee at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center, including:

  • Rapid Antigen – $50 each (approx. 10 minutes)
  • Rapid Molecular – $150 each (approx. 30 minutes)
  • PCR – $200 each (approx. 30 minutes)

Why are at-home or self-tests not accepted?

The State of California requires negative test results from the test provider or laboratory. Attendees cannot self-attest to verify vaccination status or a negative test result.

Can I take my wristband off at the end of the day – does it need to remain on through all days of the symposium?

Your wristband is proof that you are vaccinated or have tested negative. Once on your wrist, the waterproof wristband is good for the entire length of the show. If the wristband is removed, damaged or lost, you will have to return to the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center for a new wristband before entering the Convention Center.

I need a new wristband. What should I do?

If you need to replace your wristband, you will need to be verified again at the Safe Expo Health & Safety Screening Center. Guests must display a wristband for entry into all Unified venues.

Are there any exemptions to the proof of vaccine/negative test requirements?

The State of California requires all attendees of large events age 2 and older to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test result. If you provide test results for entry, the test must have been conducted in the last 1 day for an antigen test or 2 days for a PCR test.

I have already had COVID-19. Do I still need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result?

Yes, the State of California requires all attendees of large events age 2 and older to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test result. If you provide test results for entry, the test must have been conducted in the last 1 day for an antigen test or 2 days for a PCR test.

I’VE ALREADY REGISTERED, BUT AM UNABLE TO ATTEND?

What are my options if I already registered but do not/will not meet Unified’s safety protocols?

We ask all guests with COVID-19 symptoms or are in isolation or quarantine following the State of California’s guidance to not attend the Unified. We also ask all guests to follow all safety and prevention measures, including wearing face coverings at all times indoors and providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result.

Will there be any live-streamed events that I can view at home if I do not/will not meet Unified’s safety protocols?

No. Only audio recordings will be available.

What should I do if I start feeling sick or test positive before Unified?

Whether you have symptoms or not, stay home until you feel better and test negative. If you test negative on Day 5 or later and before your arrival at Unified you are welcome to attend the event, as long as your symptoms are resolving.

What should I do if I start feeling sick at Unified?

If you start feeling sick, please leave the event right away. Return home and stay away from others. Follow the State of California’s isolation guidelines.

Please report any positive cases of COVID-19 during the days of our event to Ambassador@SafeExpo.org. Safe Expo’s services are HIPPA compliant so any reporting will remain confidential with Safe Expo and they will only report numbers of cases to Unified Wine & Grape Symposium.

I was recently in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. How many days do I have to wait before attending the symposium/what quarantine schedule does Unified recommend?

Please follow the State of California’s isolation and quarantine guidelines.

If you test positive: whether you have symptoms or not, stay home until you feel better and test negative. If you test negative on Day 5 or later and before your arrival at Unified you are welcome to attend.

If you were exposed, your quarantine requirements depend on your vaccination status.

  • If you are not up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccinations (are eligible for a booster dose but have not received one/you are not eligible for a booster and it has been less than 2 weeks since you completed your primary vaccination series of Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson): quarantine for 5 days and get tested. You can end quarantine, and attend Unified, if you test negative on day 5 or later and have no symptoms.
  • If you are up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccinations (have received a booster or are not yet eligible for a booster but it has been 2 weeks since you completed your primary vaccination series of Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson): you do not need to quarantine and may attend the Unified.
