Lise Asimont
Dot Wines, LLC, California

Lise Asimont started her career in the wine industry while studying anthropology at Saint Mary’s College of California.  She devoted a junior thesis to the inner-workings of a small winery in the Russian River Valley.  While there, she developed a love for winegrowing and went on to study with the Environmental Horticulture graduate group at the University of California, Davis with a specialization in Viticulture.  She studied under Dr. M. A. Walker at the University of California, and conducted her master’s research on grapevine rootstock resistance to root-knot nematodes.

After graduating from UC Davis, she was given the opportunity to work in Santa Barbara County for Cambria Vineyard and Winery in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County as an assistant vineyard manager.  In 2001, Lise moved to Sonoma County and worked in grower relations for Geyser Peak Winery in Geyserville, Sonoma County, where all the vineyards in the entire state of California became her living classroom.

In 2006, Lise joined the winemaking team at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville, Sonoma County and collaborated on the creation of new Sonoma County wine programs and expansion of the California wine programs.  As the director of grower relations, Lise spearheaded the viticulture program, sourcing grapes from thirteen different counties throughout California.

Lise took on the role of CEO for VinSense LLC in 2017 where she paved the road for their break-out technology for wine grape growers bringing functional soil modeling and data integration for perennial agricultural systems.

In 2019, Lise accepted the position of Director of Vineyard Operations at Cakebread Cellars, in Rutherford, Napa County and was responsible for their 580 acres of certified sustainable estate vineyards in Mendocino and Napa Counties and grower relations with vineyards in Sonoma and Napa counties.

In 2016, her family launched Dot Wines, LLC,  a wine brand which specializes in Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and produces wines expressive of the special vineyards they come from.  In 2020, Lise launched LA Winegrowing Consulting, and enjoys bringing sustainable practices and winemaking to her clients.  Sharing her valuable knowledge and passion, Lise is a strong voice for the American Society for Viticulture and Enology; she served as a past president.   She lives in Healdsburg with her family and enjoys the amazing agrarian life of Sonoma County.
