Marcia Torres Forno
Matanzas Creek Winery, California
Marcia has over 20 years of professional winemaking experience.
She is a senior winemaker at Jackson Family Wines and is the head
Winemaker for Matanzas Creek Winery. She received her Bachelor of
Science in Agricultural Engineering, with an emphasis in
Viticulture and Enology at Catholic University in Santiago.
Marcia started her career at Cousiño Macul in Chile, then did several harvests in Chile, France and the US. Her first California winemaking job was as an enologist at Cardinale Winery in Napa Valley. From there, she worked for Kendall-Jackson Winery in both Sonoma and Napa counties as assistant winemaker. Marcia was appointed Winemaker of Matanzas Creek Winery in 2010.
Marcia’s expertise is Sauvignon Blanc. She has implemented winemaking techniques to maximize thiols, monitor potential redox, and evaluate the effects of light on bottled wine. She has led research projects to reduce and monitor Brettanomyces and to increase effectiveness on cleaning empty red barrels.
When not in the vineyard or winery, Marcia can be found outdoors, enjoying nature. In May 2016, she hiked through Spain for 15 days on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.
