Steven Lindow is a professor of Plant Pathology at the University of California, Berkeley, Department of Plant and Microbial Biology. He studies the microbiology of plants with special attention to the epidemiology of bacterial diseases of important California crops. His work has also focused on the biology of the causal bacterial pathogens to identify novel means of control of plant diseases. Recent work has focused on Pierces Disease of grape, where studies of the biology and behavior of the causal pathogen Xylella fastidiosa has led to several novel means of control of this important disease.
