The World is Changing but the Varietals We Grow Have Not. Are We Missing Out
Grapegrowing Breakout Session

Winegrowers are continually challenged to adapt to a changing world, whether driven by climate change, consumer preferences, market conditions, labor availability, technology or the regulatory environment. However, when it comes to what kinds of grapes are grown, many winemakers and growers resist changing varietals. A look at other wine producing countries suggests many different grape varietals may be better adapted to the diversity of terroir available to West Coast growers and deliver better quality wine and superior returns to growers. This session will examine some of the varietal options available to winegrowers and the benefits of those varietals.
