Chenin Blanc: One Grape, Many Personalities (includes tasting)

From its historic roots in Napa Valley to a new generation of winemakers redefining its place in American wine, Chenin Blanc is proving just how many personalities one grape can have.

Through a guided tasting spanning Napa Valley, California’s Central Coast and Oregon, four winemakers will explore Chenin Blanc’s evolution from a once widely planted “workhorse” variety to an increasingly sought-after wine celebrated for its versatility, character and ability to express both place and technique.

Attendees will taste across a spectrum of styles—from old-vine and site-driven expressions to bright, textured and sparkling wines—while exploring the influence of acidity, oak, vineyard site and winemaking choices. Along the way, panelists will share the history behind the variety, why a new wave of producers is embracing it, and how they are introducing Chenin Blanc to today’s wine consumer.
